                                          Tanushree Dutta (pronounced [t̪É™nʊʃri], ITRANS: tanushri; born 19 March 1984) is an Indian model and actress who primarily appears in Bollywood movies. Dutta is the recipient of Femina Miss India Universe title in 2004. During the same year at the Miss Universe beauty pageant, she was among the top ten finalists.

She did an Indian pop music video, "Saiyan Dil Mein Aana Re" by Harry Anand before taking part in the Miss India pageant. It was a massive hit and she subsequently performed at several stage shows in 2003. This experience her the stage confidence that she displayed as the Miss Universe pageant. Tanushree is a competent singer although she has never used her vocal skills professionally.


She came from well influenced family. Her father name is Tapan who is an officer of Life Insurance Corporation in India. Her mother is a housewife. Tanu says about her mother, “My mom is a careful housewife because beside her family she helped a lot to win Femina Miss India Universe crown on my head”. Her film career mainly began with the film of Aashiq Banaya Apne that was released on 2nd September, 2005 as the name of Sneha with Emraan Hashmi in that film she got most popularity by the hot seen and song of Aashiq Banaya Aapne with Emraan Hashmi as well as this film directed and written by Aditya Datt.  She also played as actress in Telugu film named Veerabhadra that most crucial part of this film is that was shoot in about 70 temples in India, Tanu also said, “This is most interesting experience of my life to shoot in temples in India and the hospitality of temple people”. Veerabhadra was also released in the same year of 2005. In 2005 she played as actress in the film of Chocolate: Deep Dark Secrets  as role of Simran against the actor of Arshad Warsi and Emraan Hashmi as well as directed by Vivek Agnihotri in addition to produced by Vibha Bhatnagar and Ragini Sona. In 2006 she act in two film only named 36 China Town and Bhagam Bhag.Tanushree easily got used to the limelight and of having her photos taken, so much so that at the end of her tenure as Miss India, handing over the title to Amrita BThapar, she still felt the need to continue to be popular, and this is what motivated her to join Bollywood.This lack of confidence and shyness changed when she was enrolled in a boarding school in Pune where she would get a degree in Communications. This is where Tanushree literally found herself, ended up being more confident and open enough to to participate in the Miss India pageant in 2002 and 2003. Success eluded her as she could not make it to the final group of contestants.

She was employed with Oracle Institute for 3 months in event management and her assignments included print campaigns & commercials. She also was stage artist, doing concerts in various parts of India as well as abroad (Dubai).
